ALERT ! NMR FACILITY SHUTDOWN DUE TO WATER EMERGENCY

Physical Plant is working on a water supply emergency that is confined to Bagley Hall.  The building Administrator has ordered the NMR facility to be closed until further notice.  So, you won’t be able to block NMR time until the situation returns to normal. I have tentatively blocked off the calendar to emphasize this point. […]

NOTE : INSTRUMENT LOGBOOK ISSUES

Hello NMR Users I recently learned of issues with posting messages in the instrument Log Books that is provided via a Web Page.   It is a strange ‘Catch 22’  situation where you could not have communicated the problem via a Log Book entry ! UPDATE – AV300 – PROBE TUNING ISSUES

There has been repeated reported reports, albeit only from a subset of users, that the ATMA probe tuning/matching is taking very long.   I want to first assure you that we are already working on possible ways to resolve this. ALERT : NMR LAB TEMPERATURE ISSUES…BEING LOOKED INTO

Hello all You might have noticed that the NMR Lab i.e. Rm.37, Bagley was ‘generously warm’  today and in fact the thermostat was reading close to 86 F.  Over and above this high room temperature, we discovered that the control mechanism that keeps the room temperature from fluctuating wildly, is not functioning. The upshot: The […]

UPDATE ! AV301 – SHIMMING ISSUES

Hello All A primary reason for the horrendous lineshape and difficulty in getting a decent shim-set on this instrument, of late, was due to a really dirty and grimy interior of the probehead i.e. the part where the RF coil wraps around the NMR sample tube, when you land the sample.   This goopy resin sticking […]
