{"id":2723,"date":"2022-11-18T11:15:20","date_gmt":"2022-11-18T19:15:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/chemwp\/chemwpnmr\/?p=2723"},"modified":"2022-11-18T11:15:20","modified_gmt":"2022-11-18T19:15:20","slug":"preparing-for-500-mhz-instrument-upgrades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/chemwp\/chemwpnmr\/2022\/11\/preparing-for-500-mhz-instrument-upgrades\/","title":{"rendered":"PREPARING FOR 500 MHz INSTRUMENT UPGRADES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Users<\/p>\n<p>Recently, some of you might have seen a Post in this space about oncoming instrument Upgrades in the 500 MHz category.\u00a0 Here is a <a href=\"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/chemwp\/chemwpnmr\/2022\/09\/gg500-bit-of-history-current-issues-and-roadmap-please-read\/\">link to that roadmap<\/a>, in case you missed it.<\/p>\n<h2>To summarize :<\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Beginning of the New Year 2023<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>We will be left with two modern 500 MHz spectrometers : <strong>GG500 AND NEO500<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The venerable <strong>AV500 <\/strong>will be retired.<\/li>\n<li><strong>GG500:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This instrument will physically move and replace the AV500 electronics console (the magnet will remain in place)<\/li>\n<li>We will also be getting a shiny new <strong>BBFO probe <\/strong>with <strong>ATMA <\/strong>capability that will be part of this relocated <strong>GG500 <\/strong>instrument.<\/li>\n<li><strong>BBFO :<\/strong> Capable of observing 1H, X-broad band and 19F with one probehead.<\/li>\n<li>We also hope that an automatic Sample Injection accessory, <strong>SampleMail <\/strong>will be available with this instrument &#8211; <strong><em>this will relieve us from climbing atop the stepladder to inject and eject samples. <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>NEO500:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This will be the latest model NMR console in the facility. (Here is a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bruker.com\/en\/products-and-solutions\/mr\/nmr\/avance-neo-consoles.html\"> link<\/a> to the manufacturer&#8217;s webpage, in case you are technically inclined)<\/li>\n<li>This instrument will host the <strong>Prodigy Cryoprobe <\/strong>(here is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bruker.com\/en\/products-and-solutions\/mr\/nmr\/cryoprobes\/CryoProbe-Prodigy.html\">link to the summary<\/a> page).\u00a0 This probe is also a <strong>BBFO <\/strong>type probe that will cover pretty much all the nuclei that we are in need of observing.<\/li>\n<li>The sensitivity of this probe is 2x to 3x better than a similar Room Temperature probe :\u00a0 <strong><em>this leads to a reduction in NMR experiment time by a factor of 4 to 9 !<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This instrument will be equipped with a <strong>SampleCase <\/strong>Automatic Sample Changer with space for 24 NMR sample tubes.\u00a0 <strong><em>Sample Injection and Ejection will be controlled by the software.<\/em> <\/strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bruker.com\/en\/products-and-solutions\/mr\/nmr\/nmr-automation\/SampleCase.html\">A quick glance here<\/a> at what the unit is capable of)<\/li>\n<li><strong>VT :\u00a0 <\/strong>The probe has a comfortable temperature range of <strong>-40 C <\/strong>to <strong>+120 C <\/strong>for prolonged operation. (<em><strong>we can reach higher temperatures with careful precautions taken on the duration of experiments)<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>In preparation&#8230;.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Next week, both the GG500 and AV500 instruments will be offline for about\u00a0 a day and a half for us to do the needed hardware reconfiguration in these consoles.<\/li>\n<li>After this operation, the <strong>AV500 <\/strong>console will host the <strong>TBI-1H{13C,X} probe<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The <strong>GG500<\/strong> console will host the <strong>TXO-1H{19F, 13C} probe. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Please note that this configuration swap will be a short-lived one &#8211; <em><strong>until the new NEO500 NMR spectrometer shows up by the end of December at our facility.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>More communication will be upcoming on this exciting phase of the NMR facility.
