PhD Student, Researcher
Tom is a PhD student in the Department of Human Centered Design and Engineering at the University of Washington in Seattle. His current research interests are in information locality, and how proximity to an emerging crisis or breaking news event shapes online user behavior and information sharing.
With CoSSaR, Tom is working on a project investigating information sharing during the 2016 Cascadia Rising Disaster Exercise, identifying the cause and effect of barriers to information sharing between various agencies during a large scale disaster.
