Cruise Description

The first of four seasonal cruises consisted of one river mile 53 12-hour series, three 30-hour (1 neap, 2 spring) channel contrast series, six flood and two ebb ETM series, and a downstream series at Clatsop Spit.

Vessels

The R/V Robert Gordon Sproul, from Scripps Oceanographic Institute in San Diego, CA, was utilized for sedimentological, geochemical, microbial and ecological investigations.

Geophysical investigations in were conducted from the R/V Clifford Barnes, a research vessel from the University of Washington's School of Oceanography in Seattle, WA.

Coding explanation for sampling series:

Letter Code: U upstream; D downstream; N neap tide; S spring tide; E ebb; F flood
First Digit: Tidal Series
Second Digit: Sequence in Tidal Series

Example: U11 refers to the first sequence in the first upstream tidal series.
