\nCharlotte P. Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) at the University of Washington and is the Director of the Computer Supported Collaboration (CSC) Laboratory. Lee\u2019s research is in the field of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) where she focus on the collaborative development of information infrastructures for diverse stakeholders. Her approaches blend aspects of Human-Computer Interaction, Design Studies, Organization Science, and Science and Technology Studies. Her work focuses on empirically describing and theorizing the information practices, artifacts, and coordination structures of communities of practice working towards a shared goal: collaborative design.

\nAndy is a PhD student in the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE). He holds a BA in Information Systems from the University of Washington. His work focuses on the sociotechnical practices of data-intensive collaborative knowledge work of domain scientists. He is particularly interested in the coordinative work involved in producing and integrating large heterogenous datasets for collaborative analysis (using machine learning tools) and how it’s transforming scientific knowledge discovery and the establishment of trust in data, algorithms, and results.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In particular he examines emerging entanglements between research practice and software development practice in scientific collaborations. He has also worked on understanding changing work practices around digital labor platforms in the gig economy, and how people work with, against, and around automated systems.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Sam holds a BS in HCDE from the University of Washington. Her research interests include understanding both the factors that influence organizational resilience, as well as those that influence individual psychological resilience, and the interplay between the two. Sam is currently the COO of a Seattle startup that develops technology to enable remote work, play, and collaboration. She looks forward to pursuing her graduate education in the coming years.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Scott Mainwaring<\/h6>\n

Research Scientist ———————————–<\/h4>\n

Scott Mainwaring is an affiliate faculty member of HCDE. He has worked as an ethnographic design researcher at Interval Research and at Intel Research, co-founded the Intel Science and Technology Center (ISTC) for Social Computing, and advised the Institute for Money, Technology, and Financial Inclusion at UC Irvine. His research interests include values in design, consumerization, digital money, innovation methodologies, and resistance. In past lives he was a software engineer and a cognitive scientist, and likes to work across disciplinary boundaries.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The CSC Lab is part of the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) in the College of Engineering at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.<\/p>\n

CSC Lab is located in \u201cStudio 425\u201d with two other labs in the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering on the fourth floor of Sieg Hall in room 425.
