CSSCR was founded in 1972, making this our 54th year serving the social sciences in research and teaching at the UW. The nature of computing has changed radically since CSSCR was founded. Recent developments include new computationally intensive statistical methods, availability of new technologies for collection, handling and analysis of large data sets, and practical advancements in artificial intelligence. Indeed, computational techniques are more important in the social sciences than ever. CSSCR is here to serve you, through our data and analytical consulting services, through secure data facilities, by access to teaching computer labs, training in our workshops (see below), or through our poster printing service.

There are some new faces at CSSCR. Our new consultants this year are Kefan Yu (Education), Ramses Llobert (Political Science), Carly Perryman (Social Work) and Edward Stuart (Anthropology, starting in Winter quarter). CSSCR also has a new team member, Karoliina Kuisma, who serves as the Administrator for CSSCR, CSDE and CSSS.

Our services are open to faculty, staff, and students in our member units. Our consulting services are available to the whole university community. We look forward to serving you this year.

Darryl Holman
CSSCR Interim Director
*****************************************************************************
*****************************************************************************

CSSCR Workshop Offerings Autumn Quarter 2026

***Workshops are listed in the order of the dates they will be delivered***

****************************************************************************

Atlas.ti for Qualitative Thematic Analysis

Description: This workshop provides a practical introduction to working in ATLAS.ti, by marrying the functionality of this software with the fundamentals of the qualitative methodology.
