John Szumowski, MD, MPH is a fourth year fellow originally from Massachusetts, who is now a convert to the West Coast. A Massachusetts native, John completed medical school at Harvard followed by residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. While in Boston, he earned a Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health with a focus on Quantitative Methods. His research previously was based at Fenway Community Health, one of the largest clinics serving the LGBT community in the Northeast, where he studied community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus-aureus infection. His research interests have refocused to HIV immunology, and a strong interest in vaccine development brought him to the University of Washington.
