Study ties diabetes progression to statin use

A study showed that patients with diabetes who take statins may be more likely to see their diabetes progress than those who do not take statins. “The higher risk of diabetes progression associated with statin use may seem less consequential, at least in the short and intermediate term, than the cardiovascular benefits of statin use, especially when used for secondary prevention," according to the study, published in JAMA Internal Medicine.
