Message from Dan Evans,
former Governor of Washington State,
upon the Creation of the Marc Lindenberg Center for Humanitarian
Action, International Development and Global Citizenship.
May 3, 2002
Dear Marc,
Only a long-scheduled trip to Walla Walla could keep us
from this luncheon. Nancy has her responsibilities at Whitman
College and I will be accompanying her.
I was thrilled and honored to have the Graduate School of
Public Affairs named after me. The greatest joy, however,
has been the opportunity to work with students and faculty
under your inspired leadership. The school is rapidly increasing
in stature in the nation and is serving an ever broadening
clientele. Nancy and I are especially gratified by the fine
endowment created in her honor for studies in nonprofit organization
management.
You have provided charismatic and innovative leadership
to us all and we are grateful for your fine efforts. I can
think of no better tribute to a fine leader than the naming
of the Marc Lindenberg Center for Humanitarian Action, International
Development and Global Citizenship. It will be a lasting tribute
to the guidance you have given and the example you have set
for so many who will be dedicated to public service.
Thanks for who you are and what you do.
Sincerely,
Dan Evans
