The University of Washington Department of Family Medicine offers a 2-year Primary Care Research Fellowship through the National Research Service Award program (NRSA).

The fellowship is a great opportunity for recent residency graduates or family physicians with practice experience. It provides formal research training in preparation for a career as an investigator and leader in academic, practice, policy or organizational settings.

The Fellowship provides:

·     Formal training in research methods

·     Experience working with established investigators

·     Mentorship for career success

·     MPH degree at the UW School of Public Health

·     Stipend, tuition and academic expenses

This is an established fellowship program in an exciting environment. The University of Washington and Seattle have tremendous diversity and depth of resources for research in primary care and related fields. Our Department has a strong track record of research in many areas, with special focus on:

·      Women’s health

·      Health workforce

·      Clinical translational research

·      Rural health

·      Practice-based research

This NRSA Primary Care Research Fellowship program is offered jointly by the departments of Family Medicine, General Internal Medicine, and Primary Care Pediatrics at the University of Washington in Seattle.

The 2-year program usually includes an MPH degree in Health Services or Epidemiology, but can fit with other graduate study programs. The fellowship pays tuition and a stipend based on years of training and experience. Upon finishing the 2-year program, there is no service commitment. We strongly encourage minority applicants. Fellows must be BE/BC and be US citizens or permanent residents.

The application deadline is September 30, 2015, to select one Family Medicine Research Fellow to enter the program in July 2016.
