Biographical Profile

Dr. Emily M. Godfrey MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and an adjunct Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a Principle Investigator of several clinical research trials with the UW Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Godfrey’s training includes a MD from the Medical College of Wisconsin and a Master’s of Public Health from the University of Rochester. She is fellowship trained in family planning clinical research and faculty development. Dr. Godfrey’s research interests include clinical trials to enhance contraceptive use and implementation of practice guidelines into primary care. Dr. Godfrey is an author of family planning national guidance for women’s reproductive health clinical services released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Office of Population Affairs. She is a member of the expert committee on the CDC Division of Reproductive Health Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive use and Selected Practice Recommendations for Contraceptive Use, and a member of the World Health Organization guideline development group for sexuality-related communication.
