Forerunner cells durng late gastrulation.
90% to 100% epiboly. Forerunner cells overlapped by converging germ ring. Tail bud formation.
Play QuickTime movie of NEM/forerunner cell morphogenesis during late gastrulation:
Vegetal pole view of a 90% to 100% epiboly embryo. Dorsal to the left. Embryo was labeled with SYTO-11 during early epiboly. This time lapse movie shows the NEM/forerunner cell cluster during the last stages of gastrulation. As cells in the germ ring are converging toward the dorsal side (left), the NEM cells are compressed into a wedge shaped mass. The NEM/forerunner cell cluster eventually becomes overlapped by the converging germ ring.
