The embryo was labeled with BODIPY-Sphingomyelin to label the membrane surface of all the cells. The cells at the margin of the blastoderm are undergoing extensive lobodipodial (bleb-like) protrusive activity. The NEM/forerunner cells are located in front of the margin. Notice that the NEM/forerunner cells also have lobodipodial protrusions except at their most vegetal connection with the EVL-YSL border.
