The Portuguese Cybersecurity Program at the UW is an opportunity for high school students in the United States to become familiarized with the principles of Cybersecurity, while learning and/or improving their Portuguese Language Skills. We are offering two online programs: an asynchronous 3-week program or a combination of a 3-week asynchronous and one-week synchronous program.
The video below from the 2017 STARTALK Portuguese Student Program will give you an example of a Portuguese language and STEM Program. The video below is from a face-to-face program, while the Portuguese GenCyber Program will be offered only remotely in 2021.
The University of Washington |Seattle| Language Learning Center (LLC) in collaboration with the UW Center for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity (CIAC), the UW Center for Global Studies, and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies is offering a unique summer camp that combines the areas of cybersecurity and language education in Portuguese for high school students. This 2021 program is funded by the U.S. National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation. Additional funding has been provided by the UW Center for Global Studies. We are grateful to the support kindly provided by Prof. Marc Dupuis of the Division of Computing & Software Systems at UW Bothell and Dr. Barbara Endicott-Popovsky, Executive Director, Center for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity, University of Washington.
