Research Interests

Louis conducted researched with his lab partner and fellow ALVA '12 participant Brin Gabo at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's Shou Lab. Alongside his research mentors, Dr. Wenying Shou and Jose Pineda, Louis conducted research that centered around cooperation between organisms. In order to better understand incipient cooperation between two non-mating yeast strains, Louis used a modeling system called CoSMO (Cooperation that is Synthetic and Mutually Obligatory). A better understanding of the evolution of cooperation among small organisms could ultimately translate into a better understanding of the role of cooperation in a larger context.

Louis plans to major in engineering at the University of Washington..
