Maria Lukes

Maria Lukes graduated from Auburn Riverside High School and Green River College in Pacific, WA in 2018. During high school, she joined robotics while participating in sports like in cross country and track. During her freshman year at UW, she joined and is currently active in the Running Club.

Research Interests

As a GenOM ALVA intern during the summer of 2018, Maria worked in the Myler Lab in the Center of Infectious Disease Research. The aim of her research was to work with a disease named leishmaniasis where she worked on cloning proteins from the leishmania parasitic genome. This summer, Maria began working in the Beier Lab at Seattle Children’s Research Institute where she works to identify the causal genes of developmental abnormalities. She contributes by genotyping each of the mouse lines they maintain.
