Alum Ambassador Committee Roles & Responsibilities
Time Commitment
- Meet once a month: October-December; January-March; April-June
- Virtual with option to meet on campus or elsewhere as convenient.
- The committee term is 2 years.
- Expected time commitment is approximately 10 hours per month, including meetings and committee activities.
Logistics Ambassador
Summary
The Logistics Ambassador supports the administration of the alum ambassador program’s activities, including events, meetings and communications.
Primary Responsibilities
- Determine schedule of committee meetings on an annual basis, including ad hoc meetings as needed.
- Coordinate with the Geography Advising Office to set up Zoom links or space reservations.
- Communicate important information and updates to committee members and to alum community as needed.
- Participate as an alum mentor for GEOG 491 Professional Development for Geographers.
Curriculum Ambassador
Summary
The Curriculum Ambassador supports the development and maintenance of career support and community building curriculum for enrolled UW geography students.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review current geography career exploration and professional development course syllabi as desired to offer feedback.
- Propose and revise alum participation in career support coursework.
- Connect with UW geography faculty to consider alum participation in GEOG curriculum as a whole.
- Participate as an alum mentor for GEOG 491 Professional Development for Geographers.
Recruitment Ambassador
Summary
The Recruitment Ambassador supports the onboarding and participation of UW geography alums in the Alum Ambassador program, as committee members, mentors, and guest speakers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Share calls for participation with UW geography alum network.
- Invite UW geography alums found on LinkedIn or through a personal network.
- Develop ongoing community networking and social events.
- Participate as an alum mentor for GEOG 491 Professional Development for Geographers.
