The University of Washington Hospital Medicine Program provides exceptional general internal medicine patient care, teaching, and research focused on the inpatient care environment. The Program covers three clinical sites: The University of Washington Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.
Clinical activities include primary general internal medicine care of hospitalized patients as well as a variety of medicine consultative services.
Hospital Medicine Faculty provide local, regional, and national leadership in the following areas:
- Medical education;
- Enhancing the quality, safety, and efficiency of care delivery;
- Promoting optimal patient care experiences;
- Care coordination, and;
- Information technology.
A robust Faculty Development Program provides high-quality educational sessions that advance Hospital Medicine Faculty and Trainee knowledge and skills. A core commitment to academic medicine, the pursuit of excellence, innovation, and professionalism run across this broad array of activities.
