Dr. Thomas DeCato, R3 (mentor J. Randall Curtis) and Dr. Samuel Rayner, R2 (mentor Timothy Watkins), have received Resident Development Scholarship awards from the American Thoracic Society. They will receive the awards and be recognized at a special ceremony at the upcoming ATS conference in May.
Drs. Paul Crane, associate professor and Eric Larson, clinical professor (General Internal Medicine) were co-authors of an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association, titled “Variants in the ATP-Binding Cassette Transporter (ABCA7), Apolipoprotein E ϵ4, and the Risk of Late-Onset Alzheimer Disease in African Americans.” Link to article
Dr. Kim O’Connor, assistant professor, is senior author and Dr. Doug Paauw, professor (General Internal Medicine) is co-author of the article “Varicella Zoster with Extended Prodrome: A Case Series” published in the April issue of The American Journal of Medicine. The article describes seven patients with an extended prodrome of Herpes Zoster, up to 18 days. This is the first time that this common clinical occurrence has been described in the literature.
