Dr. Heather Davidson accepts deputy chief of staff position for VA Boston Health Care System

Dr. Heather Davidson, assistant professor (General Internal Medicine) and acting chief of Medicine and director, Hospital & Specialty Medicine Service Line at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, has accepted the position of deputy chief of staff at the VA Boston Healthcare System. She will oversee multiple clinical services and programs, quality improvement and systems redesign projects, and the leadership of the professional standards board and medical staff office.   

Davidson came to the UW in 2005 as an acting assistant professor, after receiving her medical degree in 2001 from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completing her residency at Johns Hopkins in 2004. She will be leaving the VA Puget Sound in late November/early December.

She said, “I have learned so much from the past eight years here and the unique opportunity of serving as Acting Service Chief since June 2011. I am very proud of the growth and development of all our sections in recent years…I am also grateful for the opportunities I have had to participate in resident education and Residency Program leadership since 2010…I hope to remain actively involved in medical education throughout my career.”

The department thanks Dr. Davidson for her years of service and wishes her well in her new position.
