Model Patients Help UW Residents with Bedside Skills

From DOM Week:

Model Patients Help UW Residents
The UW has teamed up with Planned Parenthood to provide training for first year residents on how to give pelvic exams. Model patients provide feedback on how the residents made them feel during the exams, which is part of a cultural shift in medical education that includes training for bedside skills. The model patients are staff at Planned Parenthood and the training program is part of their mission to promote access to women’s health. Dr. Karen McDonough, associate professor (General Internal Medicine) is interviewed and intern Naomi Shike is pictured in a recent article about this program in the Seattle Times.
