The PDDC defined the objective of contributing to the creation of scientific evidence in the area of \u200b\u200bprevention, diagnosis and control of Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) through the promotion and implementation of epidemiological, clinical, basic research and operational support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Faculty<\/strong>:<br \/>\n<span class=\"su-lightbox\" data-mfp-src=\"#sarah-gimbel\" data-mfp-type=\"inline\" data-mobile=\"yes\"> <a href=\"#\">Sarah Gimbel<\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Region<\/strong>:<br \/>\nMozambique<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/globalhealth.washington.edu\/interactive-map\/projects\/1044\/Dhulikhel-Heart-Study\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dhulikhel Heart Study<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>This is a cohort study of the adult population of Dhulikhel Municipality of cardiovascular disease and its risk factors. Primary collaborators are faculty from the University of Washington and Dhulikhel Hospital, in Nepal. From 2010 \u2013 2017, it was led by the University of Washington, which coordinated two key strategies to promote and support the use of economic evaluation for priority setting at both global and national levels: strengthening local capacity for evidence-based decision making and publishing the Disease Control Priorities, 3rd edition (DCP3) evidence and model packages. In 2018, the DCP3 Country Translation project (DCP3 CTP) was initiated to respond to the need for evidence and technical support in priority setting, economic evaluation, and developing\/revising and implementing UHC packages of health services in low and middle-income countries. The DCP3 Country Translation project is hosted at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The Institute is headed by Christopher J.L. Murray, a physician and health economist, and professor at the University of Washington Department of Global Health. IHME conducts research and trains scientists, policymakers, and the public in health metrics concepts, methods, and tools. Its mission includes judging the effectiveness and efficacy of health initiatives and national health systems. IHME also trains students at the post-baccalaureate and post-graduate levels. Dr. Greg Roth leads cardiovascular disease modeling for the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation\u2019s landmark Global Burden of Disease Study. It has grown over the past two decades into an international consortium of nearly 5,500 researchers, and its estimates are being updated annually. Under principal investigator Christopher J.L. Investigators at the CHRU aim to develop and apply knowledge in order to prevent morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular diseases. Through the collaborative efforts of organizations and researchers based locally, nationally, and internationally, CHRU projects develop innovative approaches not only to the discovery of new biology through biomarkers and genomics, but also to the evaluation of prevention and treatment for cardiovascular disorders. Key research in this consortium is to identify strategies to achieve sustainable uptake of proven-effective interventions in routine clinical, public health, and community-based settings and maximize the positive impact on population health.
