Methamphetamine and other stimulant use in the US has surged in recent years and is associated with a substantial burden of heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. This interdisciplinary conference will bring together cardiovascular, pulmonary, and addiction medicine specialists to define research priorities in epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and care models for cardiopulmonary complications of stimulant use. It will spur much needed inter-institutional collaboration between junior and senior investigators from across the US.<\/p>\n

This conference will be the first of its kind to focus exclusively on the cardiopulmonary effects of stimulant use aiming to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Enhance multidisciplinary and cross-institutional collaboration by convening national thought-leaders in addiction medicine, cardiology, and pulmonary vascular disease.<\/li>\n
  2. Disseminate novel scholarship and care models in stimulant-associated cardiopulmonary disease including community-based participatory research, peer engagement, and community-based care.<\/li>\n
  3. Promote trainee and junior investigator scholarship to foster mentorship and support for early career scholars in this field<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Three plenary talks on MAHF, MA-PAH, and addiction medicine will be complemented by a panel discussion on innovative community-engaged approaches to care and breakout sessions to define research priorities in the field.<\/p>\n
