Redesigning Networking for Job Opportunities

Backr is a social network that was designed to help its members build connections and opportunities for jobs. However, Backr aims to not just connect people via job opportunities, but expand their job search to meet people as well. Job opportunities are now mostly dependent on who you know and your network of people within your field. 



  • Working with Job Centres in South London
  • Use to encourage members to seek new relationships with one another, whether seeking a job or not
  • Aimed to break down barriers of having to “know the right people” to get into the industry 



By redesigning and looking at a new perspective of unemployment, Job Centres in South London was able to open new networks to its members. Through the use of events, they were also able to increase communication and the flow of information in what they call a “relational economy”.
