WACh Graduate Certificate Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Program Overview<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>Graduate Certificate in Global Health of Women, Adolescents, and Children (Global WACh Certificate)<\/strong> was created to give University of Washington students a comprehensive overview of current issues in global health as they pertain to the intertwined health and well-being of women, adolescents, and children.\u00a0 Graduates of the program will gain mentorship, base knowledge and skills, and hands-on practical experience in global health fields related to women, adolescents, and children.<\/p>\n<div class=\"uw-accordion-shortcode\">\n<div class=\"js-accordion\" data-accordion-prefix-classes=\"uw-accordion-shortcode\">\n<div class=\"js-accordion__panel\" >\n<h2 class=\"js-accordion__header\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Students currently enrolled in a University of Washington (Seattle campus) masters or doctoral program are eligible to apply.<\/strong>\u00a0 Prospective students must apply\u00a0<strong>at least two quarters<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>prior to graduation<\/strong> to be considered for the program (e.g. if you are graduating at the end of Spring Quarter, submit your application before the last day of Autumn Quarter).\u00a0 Applications for the certificate program are reviewed on a rolling admissions basis and Interdisciplinary Approach<\/h2>\n<p>Graduate students enrolled in the Global WACh Certificate Program are from diverse backgrounds, with different interests related to women, adolescent, and child health.\u00a0 Our program includes a broad range of courses that count towards certificate credits.\u00a0 Topics include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Infant, Child, Adolescent Health<\/li>\n<li>Maternal-Child Health<\/li>\n<li>Nutrition<\/li>\n<li>Reproductive Health<\/li>\n<li>Conflict and Justice<\/li>\n<li>Policy and Health Assessment<\/li>\n<li>Research Methods and Interventions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"js-accordion__panel\" >\n<h2 class=\"js-accordion__header\">Requirements<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>15 credits total, including:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>6 Core Credits<\/li>\n<li>6 Elective Credits<\/li>\n<li>3 Independent Study Credits (in GH 600 or another department prefix)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Attend at least 6 monthly cohort meetings\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>One hour meetings are scheduled once a month during the academic year (September through May).\u00a0 Topics range from professional panel events, tips for professional networking, developing effective and informative research posters, to perfecting capstone presentation pitches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Capstone Project\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The capstone is a 3-credit (90 hours) Independent Study project required to complete the Certificate and is separate from your master\u2019s thesis or doctoral dissertation.\u00a0 Capstone projects must be proposed, approved, and completed while enrolled in the Certificate.\u00a0 Students must develop a research-style poster to showcase at Global WACh\u2019s annual year-end celebration during Spring Quarter prior to graduation.\u00a0 Students graduating during other quarters may identify an alternative UW research event to showcase their poster.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"js-accordion__panel\" >\n<h2 class=\"js-accordion__header\">Additional Forms and
