On the Neonatal and Child Health (NCH) team, her research supports ongoing work for the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study to quantify the burden of health loss for child health conditions\u2014including \u200bneonatal conditions related to prematurity and low birth weight, hemoglobinopathies, and child growth failure\u2014and the development of novel methods to understand the connections among maternal and child health conditions and to better define and identify vulnerable sub-populations.<\/p>\n<p>After joining IHME in 2023, she worked with the Causes of Death, Shocks, Intermediate Causes, and Antimicrobial Resistance (CSIAMR) team on the estimation of the global burden of sepsis and antimicrobial resistance and to define the burden and associated causes of neonatal and pediatric sepsis.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Chung received her BS in Biology from Amherst College and her MD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. She completed her pediatrics residency at the University of California Irvine and Children\u2019s Hospital of Orange County and her pediatric infectious disease fellowship at the University of Washington and Seattle Children\u2019s Hospital, where she sees patients.
