Appointments are annually renewed at the discretion of the Department<br \/>\nChair and the voting faculty of the department.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Affiliate faculty duties are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mentoring, teaching, supervision or direct contribution to<br \/>deliverables for core research products in HMS is required. At minimum, participation<br \/>in one student committee per year, three hours of teaching, or equivalent<br \/>effort in other areas of teaching\/lecturing\/mentoring; or equivalent direct<br \/>contribution to core research products. Teaching\/service opportunities can<br \/>include:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Serving as a member or chair of a master\u2019s thesis committee,<\/li>\n<li>Serving as a member or chair of a doctoral committee,<\/li>\n<li>Supervision of IHME research staff, post-bachelor fellows, or HMS<br \/>postdoctoral fellows,<\/li>\n<li>Teaching in UW courses, in IHME\u2019s Technical Training, or in<br \/>informal courses or lectures offered at IHME or within HMS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Contributions to research<br \/>\nproducts should be analytical and sustained and should drive deliverables.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Collaboration on funding proposals, as appropriate.<\/li>\n<li>Annually provide an updated CV and augmented CV which lists<br \/>scholarly activity from the previous year, including a summary of HMS<br \/>activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The criteria to be considered as an affiliate faculty member are<br \/>\nas follows:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Meet University of Washington (UW) requirements for affiliate<br \/>faculty, including holding a professorial position at an institution other than<br \/>the UW or equivalent experience in the field to qualify you for the<br \/>professorial rank. More details are described on the <a href=\"https:\/\/ap.washington.edu\/ahr\/academic-titles-ranks\/affiliate-titles\/\">Affiliate Titles<\/a> page.<\/li>\n<li>Display proficiency for engaging in teaching and\/or<br \/>mentoring\/supervision activities in Health Metrics Sciences, as evidenced by<br \/>prior experience at primary institution or organization.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be considered for an affiliate appointment, please have your faculty contact at HMS send in a referral &amp; recommendation to <a href=\"mailto:healthms@uw.edu\">healthms@uw.edu<\/a> along with a copy of your CV. You may be asked to provide additional materials at later stages of the application process. <\/p>\n<p>Applications are considered by the HMS A&amp;P Committee on a rolling basis.
