Past Tense: Graduate Review of History is a peer-reviewed online journal edited by the University of Toronto's
Graduate History Society. It provides an opportunity for emerging scholars to gain experience with peer-reviewed
academic publishing. Past Tense welcomes submissions on topics concerning a broad range of time periods and
geographies. The journal publishes original research articles and critical commentaries about issues in the field
of history. Book reviews of monograph released within the past three years form an essential part of the journal.
The editorial team especially encourages students to submit revised versions of term papers, conference
presentations or thesis chapters.
Submissions must comply with the Chicago Manual of Style, with footnotes and a bibliography. Articles should be
between 15 and 25 pages; book reviews should be approximately 500 to 750 words.
The journal accepts submissions on a rolling basis but authors should submit manuscripts for double-blind review by
April 30 for consideration for the Fall 2014 volume. For more information, visit the journal's site
at www.pasttensejournal.com or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
