The area I&#8217;m interested in planting is near water lines.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of conifers listed on the locally developed web pages of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatplantpicks.org\/search\/results\"><br \/>\nGreat Plant Picks.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I would suggest looking at some of these, and then checking the web page of <a href=\"https:\/\/selectree.calpoly.edu\/\"><br \/>\nSelecTree,<\/a> where you can select trees for low root damage potential.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, if you are interested in planting a fir tree such as Abies<br \/>\ngrandis or Abies pinsapo, you would find out from SelecTree&#8217;s full tree<br \/>\nrecord that both of these have moderate root damage potential. Calocedrus,<br \/>\nPicea orientalis, Sequoiadendron and Cryptomeria are also rated as moderate.<br \/>\nCephalotaxus fortunei is rated low, as are Pseudotsuga menziesii, and<br \/>\nseveral Chamaecyparis species. The following conifers rated as having high<br \/>\nroot damage potential:<\/p>\n<p>Picea abies NORWAY SPRUCE<\/p>\n<p>Picea brewerana BREWER&#8217;S WEEPING SPRUCE<\/p>\n<p>Pinus cembra SWISS STONE PINE<\/p>\n<p>Pinus nigra caramanica CRIMEAN PINE<\/p>\n<p>Pinus taeda LOBLOLLY PINE<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can you suggest any larger growing conifers (ex.
