Health Systems and Population Health EDI Committee
In 2016, we formed a departmental Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee, which is dedicated to improving our department's culture around EDI issues. The Department of Health Systems and Population Health (HSPop) EDI Committee is a department-wide governing body that works towards the vision of a diverse, inclusive, engaging, challenging, and supportive social, intellectual, and professional learning environment that achieves excellence through valuing diverse beliefs, values, ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds.
The mission of the HSPop EDI Committee is to develop and advocate for policies and initiatives with the purpose of increasing the diversity of the HSPop community and providing a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable environment for all department students, faculty, and staff, in support of the broader equity, diversity and inclusion objectives of the School of Public Health and the University of Washington.
The Committee meets monthly and is co-chaired by faculty, staff, and student members. HSPop faculty, staff, and student members also serve on the UW School of Public Health EDI Committee and UW Diversity Council.
