Everett Clinic and Alum Dr. Kent Hu Recognized for Excellence in Addressing Opioid Epidemic
Health Services MPH alumnus Dr. Kent Hu (’04) has served as the Associate Medical Director of Quality and Safety of The Everett Clinic, a DaVita Medical Group, since 2009. Thanks to work by Dr. Hu and his team, the Everett Clinic recently received the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA)’s highest award for patient safety in the category of excellence for the organization’s chronic therapy work.
In light of recent opioid-related news locally, The Everett Clinic is taking steps to address the opioid crisis. The Everett Clinic focuses its internal efforts on educating clinical staff on appropriate and safe opioid prescribing. The Everett Clinic also identifies and helps to manage populations that are at higher risk for adverse events, and promotes board and executive team education and successful lobbying.
