Climate change is entirely real, and humans are to blame. Whenever we burn gasoline, natural gas, or coal in order to produce electricity, carbon dioxide is also produced. Carbon dioxide in the air absorbs energy from the sun, which heats the atmosphere. This ultimately results in a warmer climate. In the past 134 years, the average global temperature had increased 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit.
   Because the oceans have been getting warmer, they've been expanding to take up more volume. The water has risen 4 to 8 inches over the past 100 years. In Greenland, the amount of ice melting per year has doubled. Wildfires, drought, and heatwaves are becoming more and more common in every part of the world.
   In conclusion, climate change IS real and human caused, and every part of the world is affected by it. It's up to us to stop it by reducing the amount of greenhouse gases we emit each day. By reducing the amount of gasoline, natural gas, and coal we use in our everyday lives, we can literally save the world.

Climate change is a real problem that must be addressed. The greenhouse effect and the pollution from cars, houses and other things are causing some serious problems around the world.

Over Spring break I went on the Ecology Trip to Belize, while I was there my group and I participated in multiple environmental studies. One of these studies is a process called Transects, this process allows humans to map out the ocean floor to monitor the state of the ecosystem. People count the number of different species of fish and coral in a particular area. Once the data is collected researchers determine the different types of species to find the ecosystems state in terms of diversity. One thing researchers look for while using Transects is a process called bleaching, which occurs in Coral. When too much Carbon emissions occurs sea temperatures rise causing coral to expel algae resulting in the loss of color in the coral and eventually death. I personally saw bleaching while on my trip, there was in fact coral that had lost a significant amount of its color making it mostly white. If humanity continues to release uncontrolled amounts of Carbon emissions into the atmosphere it will eventually lead to the destruction of reefs and habitats, without these very crucia l reefs for fish and other animals they will die out. The death of entire ecosystems could potentially harm every ecosystem on the planet resulting in a mass extinction of many species.

I am convinced that climate change is real. Not only is it real, it is also Human caused. Humans have polluted Earth and caused many other problems with Earth, specifically its atmosphere. There are more than 7 billion people on Earth there was bound to be some problem with this many people on Earth. Hopefully we can find a way to get rid of our bad habits and eliminate climate change.

I strongly agree with your opinions on Climate Change. It would explain the reason for the Polar Ice Caps melting at such an alarming rate. I do not understand how people can disbelieve that the Polar Ice Caps are melting because of climate change. The book Hot, Flat, and Crowded gives us a reason to attempt to lower Climate Change. The book gives us an outlook at the poison that is CO2 emissions, and if we do not attempt to fix this, we could be facing catastrophic levels of global warming.

I believe climate change does in fact exist, and it is affecting our planet chemically and physically. Humans make major contributions to these causes. Different regions around the world are affected differently. Some may see minor changes, others who seen major changes. These can include the absence or increased precipitation, droughts, or heat waves. Like California, which is currently considered to be in a drought, and the South have recently experienced major flooding. “As climate change causes the ocean to rise, increased atmospheric carbon dioxide is also changing ocean chemistry.” The water becomes more acidic. These changes in temperature and rainfall also affect plant and animal life. It affects such things as migration patterns. Many farmers have to plant their crops during different seasons.
   The U.S. is one of the number one countries that emits the most greenhouse gases. These gases later effect the continent of Asia the most. That is the reason many Americans may not believe in Global Warming or climate change. As you can see on this map, http://www.carbo nmap.org/#PeopleAtRisk, the people at risk is the entire continent of Asia, but the U.S. looks tiny. Although when you click on emissions, you can notice that both U. S. and Asia are the largest. This is also partly linked to poverty, because the two biggest continents in poverty are Africa and Asia. If you haven’t noticed, Asia is depicted very largely in emissions, people at risk, and poverty. This must all be linked to climate change in some way.

Glacial melting is becoming a huge problem in our modern and future environment. Caused by global warming and Co2 emissions (also known as greenhouse gases), the big question is still standing around:  Is climate change real and does it actually have any substantial effects on our world? Facts show that glaciers have decreased by 80% and are going to disappear in thirty years if nothing is going to change (according to environment.nationalgeographic.com). This actually does have a big impact on Earth’s environment, resulting in rising oceans and affecting human engineering. When there are no glaciers left, water will become both a disaster and necessity at the same time. If glacial melting does not slow down and keeps going at the rate it is at now, our environment will be destroyed and threatened along with many of the other resources that make our living easier due to climate change.
    Again, rising sea levels is the most dramatic and significant effect of climate change. Sea levels rise when glaciers melt too quickly and in large amounts. This allows a further intrusio n of salt water into freshwater aquifers. Because of this, drinking water is vulnerable to salt, and so are crops. In areas which rely on farming and producing crops, the introduction of salt will create a widespread erosion. With no crops to survive on, countries that don’t even know it yet will have to struggle with providing food and maintaining economic wealth in their region. The fast spreading salt water will destroy our present resources. Rising oceans display a great risk and danger to our environment and land.
    Furthermore, human engineering will be more troubled because of rising sea water than it is now. Rebuilding our environment for the better will be put to a rest due to the intruding water. The new channels and levees cut short in the fixing of the river delta with supplementing rich sediment deposits. Oil and gas companies have additionally found out that energy drilling into marshland buffers caused more sinking land. In many places on the coast, people are also losing their homes to the rising water. Our current community has to stop burning as much fossil fuels to help this. Lastly, climate change is real in our present world and is definitely having disastrous effects in our environment. This needs to change, and soon.

How is climate change affecting the earth?
  If climate change continues there are many things that are gonna change about earth as we know it. One of the consequences of climate change is temperature increase. Temperature increase is bad because we will have more heat strokes and droughts, with less water the earth will become more dry. With dry earth we won't be able to grow much food with harsh heat and less water.

Another consequence of climate change is rising sea levels. With so much ice melting from the increase of heat in the arctic, the sea level will rise a lot making there be less land. Over time this can become a huge problem for people living in the coastal areas near a beach. IN all climate change is a huge problem.

Why has the temperature on earth dramatically increased?  Why has our weather become harsher and more intense?  The theory of climate change isn’t really a theory anymore.  There is proof that climate change is real.  Our weather has become more extreme, the average temperature of earth has risen dangerously, and as a result the sea levels have greatly risen.
    Climate change can be proven through our weather patterns.  Flood warnings have been more frequent, droughts have gotten worse, and intense weather has become more frequent.  In addition, our earth has become drastically warmer over the last couple of decades.  Our temperatures have risen about 0.75oC since the Industrial Revolution.  The last decade was 0.2oC hotter than the decade before I was born!  The earth will reach the “danger zone,” if its average temperature rises another 1.25oC.  This will put thirty percent of animals in danger of extinction, encourage wildfires to become bigger and more dangerous, and due to sea level rise, entire countries could disappear.  Sea levels have greatly risen due to the new  warmth of our earth.  Archipelagos, or small island chains like the Maldives and several others from South Asia are sinking because glaciers at our poles are melting.  The glaciers release water from solid to liquid form into our oceans, resulting in an increase of sea level.  Because the sea level is so high these islands, coral cannot act as a natural barrier for rogue waves or tsunamis.  This puts the people of the Maldives in great danger.  If we do not make effort to try to reduce our carbon footprint, the Maldives and many other islands will be underwater within this century.
    If the human population doesn’t act fast, we will undergo many catastrophic changes in future years.  If we want our kids and grandchildren to live full, healthy lives, we need to stop trashing our earth.  Alternative fuel, such as electricity or biofuel, can be used instead of fossil fuels to limit gases released in our atmosphere.  Also, we all can reduce our waste, reuse everything we have, and recycle our garbage or things we don’t use.  Otherwise, our thought to be immortal earth may be given a short life span.

Climate change is real and we are the cause of it. When we burn fossil fuels the carbon dioxide enters our atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and greenhouse gases are being trapped in our atmosphere. They are enveloping our earth in warmth which is heating up the earth. The climate is becoming increasingly warmer. Humans are the cause of the climate change. The ozone layer is becoming thinner in Antarctica. That is allowing the greenhouse gases to stay in our atmosphere.

Dear Nicole - you should check your information about the thinning ozone layer.  That is a separate problem from climate change, and has different causes.

Climate change is definitely real and humans also have a large part in contributing to it. One of the main reasons climate change is happening is because of how much carbon dioxide is being released into the air.  This comes from the burning of the fossil fuels that can mainly come from transportation. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, human activities can emit 60 times or more times the amount of carbon dioxide released by volcanoes each year. Whether we like it or not, climate change is our responsibility since it is our planet. Instead of trying to ignore this issue before it gets even worse we should try to communicate with one another solutions that can really change our situation. Of course, this is easier said then done but there are solutions like buying less stuff or taking public transportation or carpooling.

Climate change is very real. Humans are the main cause of it. We are releasing too much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which leads to ocean acidification, and increase in earth's temperature. Additionally, humans are cutting down trees, burning excess fossil fuels and polluting the ocean. All these factors contribute to climate change. If we, as humans don't stop and think about how we are harming the earth, then in the end it will harm us.

However, I would like to prompt you to elaborate a little more, for example, how could we improve the current condition? Should we cut down the use of fossil fuels and use other sources of energy in our world? It would be cool if you offered some examples as to how we can improve our beautiful world.

I agree, human production and waste is what is causing harm to the planet. With our thoughtless use of producing more carbon for our own satisfaction, such as cutting trees, canceling out our necessary components. We are really just shortening our planets durability, which will effect us majorly, and all the organisms with us.

It's no secret that climate change has been happening on our Earth. Humans are one of the leading causes of it. We have been burning fossil fuels at astronomically high rates for the past 100 years. And it seems that we are yet to cut back our use of it. Our CO2 output has been creeping higher and higher with each passing year. And still, no change has been made. Climate change is not new. Temperatures have been rising incrementally for a long time. If we have behaved the same way for the past 100 years, why do we believe that a small reduction in our CO2 output will fix 100 year's worth of damage?

Climate change is real. It is supported by the multiple studies conducted by scientists showing rising temperatures around the world as well as high sea levels.  There is a direct link between the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and the rising temperatures.  This is because CO2 is a greenhouse gas which means that it contributes to the greenhouse effect in our atmosphere.  This effect causes for heat to be captured and retained in the earth's atmosphere. With the warmer temperatures, it causes for the particles of the ocean to grow farther apart, raising the sea level.

Yes! Climate Change is real and nobody can oppose it! I'm living in Vietnam and we can see the climate change evidently. Not as the same as the years before, all of cities in my country are getting colder and we start to have longer period of rains. Climate change is real and has been tested by many scientists. There is plenty of evidence from sea levels rising to our temperatures rising. This is caused by our excessive amounts of greenhouse gas emissions. Everyone should be concerned about this issue because it's affects our health and our living space. Miami (USA) is expected to be totally submerged under water in the future due to sea levels rising. It's unfortunate that governments, especially in the United States, refuse to listen to scientists. I personally believe that climate change is occurring because of the increasing global temperatures, the melting of the polar ice caps and glaciers, as well as the rising of sea levels. Looking at data provided by scientists, such as the increase of annual temperatures, temperatures have been increasing more rapidly since the Industrial Revolution. We also know that the emissions given off by factories, are greenhouse gases which is therefore human caused.

At this point we have so much data that shows global warming is happening and that it is human caused that it would be overly redunant to keep trying to prove it. At this point, we have shown those who still care about life on this plant the truth, and those who still refuse to look at the facts will never change their minds.
