The International AIDS Research and Training Program (IARTP) was established in 1988 with funding from the Fogarty International Center (FIC), National Institutes of Health, with the goal of fostering international collaborative AIDS research through scientist exchange.<\/p>\n

Since the University of Washington (UW) IARTP began, the program has trained over 350 HIV investigators in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Many former IARTP students have continued collaborative research relationships with UW colleagues after they have returned to their home countries.<\/p>\n

UW has expanded its training programs through FIC and now includes research and training programs on cardiometabolic diseases, tuberculosis, cervical cancer and other non-communicable disease. Funding is currently available for trainees from Kenya and Nepal for these programs.<\/p>\n
