The Kelly lab was awarded an ITHS pilot research grant for the proposal “Bietti Crystalline Dystrophy patient-specific RPEs from iPSCs”. In collaboration with Dr. Jennifer Chao (UW Dept. of Ophthalmology), we will generate induced pluripotent stem cells from BCD patients with the intent of driving their differentiation into retinal pigment epithelial cells-the main cell type affected by mutations in the CYP4V2 gene.
