Dr. Dara Lehman's interests include viral dynamics, viral reservoirs and viral transmission. In addition, she has been involved in the development of multiple assays to detect HIV infection and drug resistance that work across HIV subtypes, and uses these assays in population-based studies. Her current projects involve cohorts of HIV infected women and their infants in Kenya to study the reservoir of infected cells that persist despite suppressive treatment with antiretroviral therapy, as well as a study of mother to child transmission of the virome (population of all viruses).
