Trades Union Savings and Loan Association, the first labor-owned bank in the United States
This building now occupied the site where the Trade Union Savings and Loan stood in 1919 The Trades Union Savings and Loan Association was founded by the Seattle Central Labor Council in January 1919 and opened its doors the following March. It was the first labor owned bank in the United States and sold stock to union locals and their members only.
