Who we are
The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) is the lead institution of the PNW LSAMP alliance. Our first goal is to support underrepresented students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Our second goal is to support URM students who want to pursue graduate studies in STEM.
The programming we offer includes:
- Internships
- Mentorships
- Leadership positions
- Summer research
- Workshops and events
- Advising
- Study abroad opportunities
- Conference participation
The LSAMP Center study space has:
- Lockers
- Computers
- Free (limited) printing
- White boards/tables
- School supplies
- Donated textbooks
- Couches, bean bag chairs
- Snacks, fridge, kettle, microwave
Become a UW LSAMP Student
The majority of LSAMP programs are open to all UW students, but we can only fund LSAMP eligible students, according to the guidelines of the National Science Foundation (NSF).
When students arrive at UW they will automatically be considered LSAMP if under the NSF guidelines and will start receiving the weekly newsletter from LSAMP. Email the LSAMP team if you have any questions or if you are not receiving the newsletter.
You are eligible for LSAMP if you are:
- A Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
- From a historically underrepresented racial or ethnic background, including: Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino/a/x, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or Native Pacific Islander
- Pursuing one of the following Pre Major, Pre-science, Pre-engineering, Pre-Architecture, Pre-STEM majors, or STEM Majors:
