It is important to realize the future when looking at advances in biomaterials and to realize where we are headed.  In the famous picture above, IBM has written its companies logo in atoms amazingly 

The atomic representation was done with a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and was the first of its kind and was a very large leap in being able to control atoms and how they leap and move on substrates.  The exact precision of the atoms on the representation should say more to you than the actual word.  This picture shows the possibilities of the future in Nanotechnology.
