Anatomy of a Semiconductor

First, a look at the parts that make up the semiconductor:

1) Bit lines - (run horizontally) made of metal, carry information to the bits (during a WRITE operation) or away from the bits (in a READ operation).

2) Word lines - (run vertically) made of polysilicon and provide the voltage to the bits.

3) Bit - a group of transistors that is at the intersection of a word line and bit line.

Now we will see how these parts work together.
