Reba McIntyre LICSW, MPA, PhD has been a lecturer and Chair of the Global Health focus course for the past six years at MEDEX Northwest. She has enjoyed leading the global health track and being a Capstone Project supervisor for MEDEX students who choose Global Health as their area of focus. Reba has also had an adjunct lecturer appointment in the UW Department of Global Health for the past four years.
Reba is the founder and Executive Director of Health Leadership International (HLI) a medical education Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) working solely with the government of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) and the Lao Ministry of Health. HLI has a MEDEX Northwest graduate working as a volunteer faculty member in the Lao PDR, training Laotian physician associates in the College of Health Sciences in emergency clinical skill-based training workshops. Reba’s HLI Seattle responsibilities include Department of State grants management, overall program management, fundraising, board development, lead for health guide translations and an e-learning video project, and in-country clinical training in behavioral health, and medical leadership and management. She was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Liberia, West Africa and has worked in Micronesia, Cameroon, Nepal and Democratic Republic of the Congo as an educational program developer and health educator. She served as Executive Director of a refugee resettlement agency in Washington State for 12 years, resettling Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laotian, Hmong, Eritrean, Ethiopian, and Polish refugee populations.
