Merdad Meraban (Yakima Class 18) finished his clinical year with a four-month primary care rotation at the Neighborcare Health Rainier Park Medical Clinic in the Rainier Valley neighborhood of Seattle. During his time there Merdad worked under preceptor Norma Nunez PA-C, another MEDEX graduate from Seattle Class 41 (2009). Merdad came to MEDEX as an international medical graduate (IMG). In his native Iran, Merdad attended medical school and worked as an MD for eight years. In 2003 he came to the US as immigrant. For a time he worked in the US as a certified nursing assistant. Eventually, he selected the MEDEX Physician Assistant program as an outstanding option to resume a medical career in his adopted country. Norma Nunez, PA-C, also immigrated to the US from her native Honduras. Both Merdad and Norma share a keen interest in working with medically underserved populations.
