Seattle genetic counselor heads national society

Genetic counselor Robin Bennett has been elected 2003 president of the National Society of Genetic Counselors. Bennett is senior genetic counselor and clinic manager at UW Medical Genetics Clinic in Seattle.

Bennett started working at the UW in 1984 after graduating from the Sarah Lawrence Human Genetics Program. Her research interests include Huntington's disease, consanguinity, neurogenetics, cancer genetics, and inborn errors of metabolism. Bennett has also been instrumental in establishing genetic counseling guidelines and pedigree nomenclature now used in the American Medical Association Manual of Style.
