MOSSAIC

Become a Mentor

As a peer mentor for MOSSAIC, you’ll gain valuable experience for the future while helping other students succeed in their transition to college.

This experience gives you the chance to earn course credit while working with program coordinators and developing leadership skills that will assist you in future professional endeavors.

Positions are by application; we are currently welcoming undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on the UW Seattle campus.

Is this you?

We are looking for people with the following skills and qualities:

  • Enjoys creative problem-solving
  • Able to form and ask thoughtful questions
  • Willing to reflect on personal experiences (strong self-knowledge)
  • Values intentional, collaborative relationships
  • Actively interested in self-directed learning

Students in the humanities and/or social sciences are particularly encouraged!

Mentors occupy a different sort of role than a friend or a tutor does. MOSSAIC peer mentors and mentees take the time to build a relationship together, then work to identify personal challenges and set goals related to the college experience.

Activities include but are not limited to: meeting for coffee or lunch, discussing campus resources, accompanying mentee to office hours, etc. All meetings occur on campus.
