Tom Stoebe Selected for ASM Albert Easton White Distinguished Teacher Award Award
Prof. Emeritus Thomas G. Stoebe has been selected to receive the ASM Albert Easton White Distinguished Teacher Award in 2012. The citation reads: “Prof. Thomas Gaines Stoebe is recognized as an inspirational and enthusiastic leader who has demonstrated significant accomplishments in the teaching and research of materials science and engineering.”
This award, established in 1960 in memory of an outstanding teacher and research engineer who was a founding member and President of ASM in 1921, recognizes unusually long and devoted service in teaching as well as significant accomplishments in materials science and engineering, and an unusual ability to inspire and to impart enthusiasm to students. The presentation of this award will be made at the ASM Awards Dinner during ASM’s Annual Event, MS&T 2012.
Since retirement in 2001, Prof. Stoebe has continued his involvement with departmental educational programs and alumni development. He also remains active in ASM International activities and runs a consulting firm, Materials Education Associates.
