ASM Scholarships to MSE Seniors
The ASM Foundation has announced it 2011 student scholarship awards, with two of the scholarships going to students in our department.
Alex P. Henson will receive the William Park Woodside Founder's Scholarship. This award provides one year of full tuition, up to $10,000. Established in 1996 by Mrs. Sue Woodside Shulec in honor of her grandfather, William Park Woodside, a man whose vision and leadership evolved into the founding of ASM International.
Chase W. Ruebel will receive a William & Mary Dyrkacz Scholarship. This award provides four student with scholarships of $6,000 each. Established in 2011 through a generous contribution by Mr. & Mrs. William Dyrkacz as an expression of their commitment to education and the materials science and engineering community.
These scholarship awards will be presented at the ASM Leadership Awards Luncheon, Monday, October 17, 2011, during the Materials Science & Technology Conference and Exhibition (MS&T '11) in Columbus, OH.
Since 1953, the ASM Materials Education Foundation and leading ASM Chapters nationwide have awarded scholarships totaling over $1 million. Currently 37 scholarships are awarded annually through the ASM Materials Education Foundation, which is supported by member contributions and other gifts. Most of these awards include a Certificate of Recognition, travel and housing allowances for attendance at the awards ceremony during the Society's annual Awards Dinner.
