This is a 1- or 2-credit and <strong>online <\/strong>course.<\/p>\n<p>HSERV 556 SLN: 11805<\/p>\n<p>FAMED 559 SLN: 11552<\/p>\n<p>HSERV 556\/FAMED 559 &#8211; <em>Tobacco-related Health Disparities and Social Justice<\/em> (online; 1-2 credits; full term)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Integrates multiple disciplinary perspectives to address the pressing issue of disproportionate tobacco use and related diseases among marginalized populations, including those defined by socioeconomic status, race\/ethnicity, and sexual orientation.<\/li>\n<li>Considers the overlap of tobacco use with other health conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Explores links between, and intervention strategies for, smoking, social stress, acculturation processes, and genetics.<\/li>\n<li>Examines tobacco industry targeting marketing strategies.<\/li>\n<li>Analyzes causes of health disparities.<\/li>\n<li>Identifies solutions to the tobacco epidemic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more details and a sample syllabus, visit our website.<\/p>\n<p>For students with a restricted registration window: we cannot reserve placement for the course, but we can place you on a wait-list, which increases your chances of gaining a spot.
