{"id":14384,"date":"2022-09-30T11:22:23","date_gmt":"2022-09-30T18:22:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/mswnews\/?p=14384"},"modified":"2022-09-30T11:22:23","modified_gmt":"2022-09-30T18:22:23","slug":"ipe-geriatric-training-program-register-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/mswnews\/2022\/09\/ipe-geriatric-training-program-register-now\/","title":{"rendered":"IPE Geriatric Training Program &#8211; Register Now!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello Health Sciences Students!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do you have an interest in the principles of high quality, interprofessional primary care for older adults?<\/li>\n<li>Do you want experience discussing and problem solving real-world primary care of older adults?<\/li>\n<li>Do you want to learn more about a team-based approach to care of older adults<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Registration is now open for the the unique interprofessional education (IPE) offering- <a href=\"https:\/\/collaborate.uw.edu\/student-portal\/age-friendly-healthcare-interprofessional-training-program\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">Age-Friendly Healthcare: Interprofessional Training Program<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The opportunity will be offered to health sciences students across UW campuses between October 2022 and May 2023, and participants will be asked to participate in a minimum of three interprofessional telehealth case discussions. \u00a0As part of the program a subset of students will also have the chance to engage in an interprofessional fall prevention workshop at Seattle Housing Authority senior living facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Students can learn more and register on the Center for Health Sciences IPE, Research and Practice website: <a href=\"https:\/\/collaborate.uw.edu\/student-portal\/age-friendly-healthcare-interprofessional-training-program\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">https:\/\/collaborate.uw.edu\/student-portal\/age-friendly-healthcare-interprofessional-training-program\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The didactic element of this program is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/geriatrics.uw.edu\/people\/katherine-bennett\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">Dr. Katherine Bennett<\/a>, Assistant Professor and Program Director of Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at UW Medicine. In addition, <a href=\"https:\/\/rehab.washington.edu\/education\/faculty\/nonproviderbios\/matsuda.asp\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">Dr. Patti Matsuda<\/a>, Assistant Professor and Physical Therapist in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, will be developing the service learning element for students to engage within older adults in the community setting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello Health Sciences Students!
