Start your application now &#8211; click\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/db.jsis.washington.edu\/StudentApplications\/\">here<\/a>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Are you interested in learning\u00a0<strong>French*<\/strong>\u00a0or an\u00a0<strong>Indigenous language**<\/strong>\u00a0spoken in Canada and conducting research on the Arctic, Qu\u00e9bec, natural resource management, climate change, human rights, urban planning, fisheries, law, humanities, public health, Indigenous political mobilization (to mention a few) while earning up to $38,000???<\/p>\n<p><strong>If so, you can apply for a FLAS fellowship for the summer, academic year or both:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u2022<\/strong>\u00a0Summer FLAS = $5,000 tuition + $2,500 living stipend (intensive language study only)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Academic year FLAS, $18,000 tuition + $20,000 living stipend (minimum 3 credits of language and 3 credits of area studies per quarter)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><br \/>\nFLAS Fellowships support graduate and professional students in acquiring a foreign language and an enhanced knowledge about Canada. Students from all programs and departments are encouraged to apply. FLAS Fellowships are available to full-time enrolled UW students who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or nationals. Out-of-state graduate students receive a non-resident tuition waiver.
