Speaker Bios<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Gina Campelia (she\/they) is an assistant professor in the Department of Bioethics & Humanities at the University of Washington School of Medicine and a clinical ethics consultant for UW Medicine Ethics Consultation Service. In scholarship, teaching and practice, Dr. Campelia translates ethical theories to clinical practice, mediating or facilitating resolution of conflicts in values. Publications concentrate on critical theory and counteracting race-based and gender-based oppression in healthcare, as well as expanding the applications of relationality, empathy, epistemology, and feminist ethics to clinical ethics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0Laura A. Katers PA-C holds dual appointments in addiction medicine and pain management at the University of Washington Medical Center. Her lens has always been behavioral medicine and she developed a keen awareness of how pain and substance use are often both undertreated in an inpatient setting. In 2021 she was asked to co-develop UWMC\u2019s first ever addiction medicine consult service, which was launched in January 2022. In addition to her clinical work, she teaches residents and clinical year PA and ARNP students and has been actively engaged in research with the Harborview Injury Prevention & Research Center (HIPRC).<\/p>\n
