{"id":2929,"date":"2012-12-11T15:41:47","date_gmt":"2012-12-11T23:41:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/mswnews\/?p=2929"},"modified":"2026-04-21T19:42:33","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T02:42:33","slug":"call-for-volunteers-figureground-communications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/mswnews\/2012\/12\/call-for-volunteers-figureground-communications\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Volunteers &#8211; Figure\/Ground Communications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The Education section of Figure\/Ground Communications (<\/em><em>www.figureground.ca<\/em><em>), an interdisciplinary research website at the intersection of Media Studies, Humanities and Social Sciences and Education,\u00a0is looking for volunteer collaborators to:\u00a01) help with the expansion of the series into\u00a0the largest repository of scholarly interviews on the web (past interviewees include Noam Chomsky, Simon Critchley, Henry Giroux and Douglas Kellner among other renowned thinkers), and\u00a02) launch\/coordinate our student-led scholarly magazine, to be launched in early 2013. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Duties include conducting and transcribing interviews with notable professors; researching conferences and calls for papers to publish to site; offering ideas for expansion of site; managing blog posts and reader contributions; and assisting with general editorial tasks. Senior undergraduates and graduate students may apply. All positions are unpaid, but collaborators will receive a profile on the site, full recognition for projects undertaken, and a letter of reference.
